Afghan Hounds held captive by a hoarder in Korea. You can see in this heart-breaking video how these beautiful dogs, ranging in age from two to ten years old, are desperate for love and affection, food and clean quarters. They have been deprived of the right to fresh air, to take a walk, to be able to stand up uncaged. We want to ensure that these special animals, our beloved Afghan Hounds, get a fresh start so they can live the happy lives they all deserve.

Karma works! Heart attack got him! The owner of this puppy mill in Incheon drop dead three days ago. Its all over now. We have the dogs in our care while taking all possible action to legalize the ownership of these 14 dogs under our custody.I must go back to the scene. It was 30th of January congressman Pyo's friend, a police officer reported this to me. We started to work on this with the Incheon city officials and the landlord. Fine and court order issued. This place is undergoing major cleaning by the city, we may need four trucks. Congressman Pyo's office is the big contributor to this rescue. Jenny worked hard on this from day one.We have seven Afghan Hound, one German Shepherd, one Golden Retriever, three standard poodle, Middle Asian Ovtcharka, all 14 are undergoing medical treatment. All the dogs will be available for adoption in 2 – 3 weeks. http://savekoreandogs.org

Gitano. Ready for his forever home.

Posted by Lori L. Olson on Saturday, April 22, 2017

So yesterday I brought home two rescues (Islero and Gitano) from AHRSC to foster for a few days. They have been delightful. Today I realized they can sit and shake on command. Sitting is Faith's only trick so far (my fault). So I thought this might be amusing and they pulled it off like pros hahaha. Such good dogs, all three 💕💕💕

Sex: Female

Breed: Afghan Hound

Color:  S/M Cream

Age :  Approx 4 1\2 years

Location:  Rescue

Description:  Eleven is so very friendly, almost housebroken with reminders to go out.  This cute girl is very small for an Afghan Hound but has an abundance of wonderful personality.  She came to us from a rescue in Korea and is currently heart worm positive.  After her heart worm treatment here there is a 6 month waiting period.  If she tests negative, then we can spay Eleven.  She is absolutely adorable and someone will be extremely lucky to have her in their life.

Adoption Status:  If you are interested please fill out an  ADOPTION APPLICATION   We only adopt our Rescues out to the West Coast    Please email for more on Eleven.   ahrsc.adopt@gmail.com

Afghan Hounds are happy dogs with a true enthusiasm for life. But Eleven was abandoned, left  to die and caught in a snare in Korea until finally, people of good character came to her rescue.   Her long journey back had just begun.

elevens-leg
The bone on her hind leg was visible for 360 degrees. Every part of Eleven’s skeleton poked out from her matted fur. She was so dirty you couldn’t even figure out  she was all blonde!

Afghan Hound Rescue Southern California stepped in and paid for Eleven’s vet bills, boarding, medications, shots, soft bed. Her wounds are healing. She’s been bathed, brushed and fed. But Eleven’s so tiny and thin, she only weighed 18 pounds. She needed further treatment, tender loving care, and, eventually, a forever home.

Aided by your contributions, Eleven can look forward to her own dog bed indoors. She will have playmates. She will see the vet and be regularly groomed and bathed and enjoy fully-fenced outdoor room where she can  run, pounce on  squeaker toys and gnaw knuckle bones. This beautiful dog will only be adopted out after a home visit confirms her happiness.

Eleven is beginning to know that the future is bright and that not all humans are weak in character.  A dog deserves to know this. A dog deserves our best selves. Eleven has already shown what a forgiving heart she has and with her big brown eyes, she now knows to look at us with trust.   We hope she never looks back.

Description:   Meet Donovan! 2 yr old male turned in to Martinez, CA shelter. He had a very atrophied rear leg when he came to rescue.  We had some some x-rays done and his ball socket is out of place.  Donovan’s surgery for his leg has been successfully completed along with his neutering.  The Doctors said he should be able to resume a normal life on his leg when healed.  Donovan is very sweet and friendly who look’s like he was neglected for a long time.  He has such a shining, beautiful personality and loves all.  He not only took to being groomed and bathed in stride, but almost seemed to enjoy it. He will be stunning when his coat grows out too.  We Love him!
